Lenten Outreach Drive - Brian Bags for the Homeless

Our Lenten Outreach Project for the parish will be collecting items for “Brian Bags.” This year’s collection will feature snacks and socks. These bags are assembled and given out to the homeless in our community and the Greater Waterbury Area, by Project Organizer, Donna Finneran, a resident of Oakville.

Brian was her twin brother who was educated and had a very good job in New York City. Then September 11th happened. Brian lost his job, and fell into hard times, resulting in becoming homeless and living on the river banks of Waterbury. Brian passed in 2016, Donna along with her family members and others have made it their mission to work to bring awareness to the Homeless and reach out to them by handing out Brian Bags care packages.

There is a sample of a “Brian Bag” in the sanctuary of our churches.

Collection bins will be set up for your returns of items for the weekend of March 11/12.

Help will be needed to assemble these bags on Wednesday, March 22 at SMMC church hall the time to be announced.

Any questions please contact Roberta at the parish office at 860-274-9273.
