World Day of Prayer - March 2

World Day of Prayer began in the 19th century when Christian women of the United States and Canada initiated a variety of cooperative activities in support of women’s involvement in mission at home and in other parts of the world.

Today, women from around the world gather annually on or near March 1.  Prayer is rooted in listening to God and to one another.  On World Day of Prayer we listen to the Word of God and to voices of women sharing their hopes and fears, their joys and sorrows, their opportunities and needs.

This year the ecumenical World Day of Prayer, which focuses on the country of Slovenia, will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church on Saturday, March 2 beginning at 11:00 AM.  Our prayer service will be followed by a light luncheon, downstairs in Fr. Filip Hall, hosted by our Council of Catholic Women.

There will be a short rehearsal held on Saturday, February 23, at 12:00 PM, for all women who would like to participate with a speaking roles in the World Day of Prayer Service.

Please consider joining us in this activity that is shared with the other churches in our town.
