Investing inthe Church’s Future

Saint John the Evangelist Parish is asking for your participation in Forward with Faith, an archdiocesan-wide capital campaign with a mission of investing in the Church’s future needs by strengthening its parishes, schools, faith formation programs and social service ministries.  50% of the monies raised will meet needs throughout the Archdiocese;  50% goes back to the parish.

Ongoing donations have brought our pledged amount up to $291,717.00 of which 50% will be given back to our parish.

Dependent upon the total amount of money pledged, the monies that remain in the parish will be used for:

  • installing handicap accessible bathrooms on the main level,
  • repairing the flooding problem at the rectory,
  • upgrades to the church sacristy including flooring, wiring and painting,
  • dedicating space for multi-media resources supporting Catechesis and Evangelization.

Any excess funds would be applied to the expense of installing an elevator.

Separate from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal - in which the money collected each year is distributed to the ministries of the archdiocese to support them one year at a time - Forward with Faith makes strategic long-term investments in local parish communities, Catholic social service providers and innovative Catholic education programs for schools and parishes.

Pledge envelopes are available at the exits of the church and at the Parish Office.

Forward with Faith is managed by The Hartford Bishops’ Foundation (HBF), an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the mission of the Archdiocese of Hartford. To learn more about HBF and Forward with Faith please visit

Online Giving Option

The beginning of a new year   is a good time to review your financial support to your parish.  It is your support that helps us build a strong faith community through the programs we are able to develop and offer, our liturgies, our staff, and caring for our buildings and grounds just to name a few.

As you review your financial support, we ask you to consider the convenience of signing up for Online Giving with WeShare.  The benefits for the parish include more consistent giving with recurring contributions; online donation summaries for record keeping; reaches a wider demographic of givers; and accommodates all special parish collections.  WeShare also makes donating simple and easy for our parishioners, while at the same time keeping the process safe and secure.

If you would like to enroll in Online Giving, please click on the image above. If you have any questions or concerns about the program or would like help setting up your account, please call our parish office at 860-274-8836.

"Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." --Luke 6:38
