Our Mission Statement

We, the people of God gathered as Saint John the Evangelist faith community share the life-giving Word, the Eucharist and the sacraments, so that all might come to believe in the Son and have eternal life. Given this abundant life, we feel called to share our gifts and our faith with others.

Statement on the Civil Strife from Fr. Anthony

The disturbing violence on the Capitol steps and under the Rotunda, that ensued from a protest rally, must not determine our destiny or define our character as a free country that is governed by just laws and the rule of order.  The world looks to our country as the model of civility when it comes to transfer of governance.  Our founding fathers gave us the gift of the Constitution that has always facilitated this peaceful transfer.   We must protect the integrity of our democracy that allows for dissent and differing opinions expressed by persuasive words and debate, not by violence. In the end the rule of just laws must determine our civil destiny.

In this time of strife we must appeal to God for His wisdom and to seek His Will.  We seek the intercession of the patron saint of our country, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, to pray for our common cause and help us see the Will of God even through the murky waters of turbulence. Let us pray for justice and peace for all.

Dispensation Extended through May 23 (Pentecost)

With the continuation of limitations on Mass attendance and our responsibility to ensure the health and safety of our parishioners,  Archbishop Blair has now extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation for all the Faithful of the Archdiocese of Hartford through Sunday, May 23, 2021, which is Pentecost Sunday.

Weekend Masses Schedule

At St. John the Evangelist Church our Mass Schedule will be:

Saturday:  5:00 PM Vigil

Sunday:  7:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM

There will be no 5:00 PM Sunday Mass, at this time.

Those intentions will be included in another Mass.

Our 9:00 AM Mass will be available through “livestream” on Facebook.

Archbishop Blair has dispensed from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass every Catholic in the Archdiocese of Hartford through Saturday, November 28.  If you are in poor health, elderly, have a pre-existing condition, or are vulnerable to disease for any other reason, please do not plan to attend Mass in person at this time.

Online Giving Option

The beginning of a new year   is a good time to review your financial support to your parish.  It is your support that helps us build a strong faith community through the programs we are able to develop and offer, our liturgies, our staff, and caring for our buildings and grounds just to name a few.

As you review your financial support, we ask you to consider the convenience of signing up for Online Giving with WeShare.  The benefits for the parish include more consistent giving with recurring contributions; online donation summaries for record keeping; reaches a wider demographic of givers; and accommodates all special parish collections.  WeShare also makes donating simple and easy for our parishioners, while at the same time keeping the process safe and secure.

If you would like to enroll in Online Giving, please click on the image above. If you have any questions or concerns about the program or would like help setting up your account, please call our parish office at 860-274-8836.

"Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you." --Luke 6:38
