Special Announcement

Last month the Archbishop announced that the names of priests “who have been the objects of legal settlements or otherwise credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor from 1953 to the present, as well as the names of religious order priests and priests from other dioceses who have been credibly accused of an offense that took place in the Archdiocese” would be made public in January along with the financial outlay and the sources of the money used for settlements. Yesterday the archbishop met with the presbyterate to inform us that the information would be made public at 10:00 am Tuesday. This morning (Tuesday January 22, 2019) the list and financial information was posted on the Archdiocesan Web site: www.archdioceseofhartfordorg.  In addition to the list and the financial disclosure is an announcement that Judge Antonio Robaina has been retained by the archdiocese to conduct an independent investigation. If you have any questions or concerns please direct them to me (Fr Anthony Smith) at (860) 274-8836 or by email: fr.smith@aohct.org

Vocations Corner

In His baptism, “Jesus shows us His solidarity with us, with our efforts to convert and to be rid of our selfishness, to break away from our sins in order to tell us that if we accept Him in our life, He can uplift us and lead us to the heights of God the Father.” -Homily of Pope Benedict XVI on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord 2013. Moreover, Jesus shows His complete submission to the will of His Father Pray for those who are discerning a call to live their baptismal commitment as priests, brothers or sisters. If you feel a call to religious life, call Fr. Michael Casey, Director of Vocations, Archdiocesan Pastoral Center, Tel. 860-761-7457, email vocations@aohct.org or visit the web at www.hartfordpriest.com.
